Stig L. Andersson is a Professor in Aesthetic Design at the University of Copenhagen and a founding partner of SLA A/S. He graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in 1986 after studies in nuclear physics and chemistry at the Technical University of Denmark and Japanese culture at the University of Copenhagen. He moved to Japan and resided there from 1986 to 1989, supported by funding from Japan’s Ministry of Research. There he exhibited paintings, photography and films.
Stig L. Andersson is a member of the Royal Danish Academy, Society of Artists and the Danish artists’ collaboration Kammeraterne. He has received numerous national and international prizes for his practice, including the award of the Association for the Beautification of the Capital, the Eckersberg Medal and the C.F. Hansen Medal.
Among other projects, Stig L. Andersson has prepared an art strategy for Roskilde University, created a public work for Aarhus University and has exhibited at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. In 2014, Denmark’s Ministry of Culture asked him to exhibit Empowerment of Aesthetics in the Danish pavilion at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, Italy.
